A roofer was climbing down a 20-foot aluminum extension ladder, which was secured to the top of an 18-foot roof by a bungee cord. The cord snapped, causing the ladder and the employee to fall parallel to the wall. The employee struck the concrete floor about 10 feet below, landing on his head and left arm. The arm swelled severely and he was hospitalized, requiring surgery.
