Final narrative
An employee was assisting a baggage tug driver with connecting their tug to a dolly. A mule vehicle was pushing a unit load device (ULD) forward and struck the tug. The employee was guiding the dolly tongue into the tug connection pin when the tongue sprang upward. The employee released the tongue but the ULD continued to move forward, and his left index and middle fingers became pinched between the dolly tongue and the tug connection pin. About one inch of the index finger was severed. The employee's fingertip was reattached at the hospital and there were no fractures.
