Before the incident

On the afternoon of [REDACTED] the employee working in the [REDACTED] (shipping) area was repositioning boxes of door closers that were positioned on a pallet.

What happened

The pallet of closers was stacked atop another pallet. That set of pallets was positioned in close proximity to another set of stacked pallets. The clearance between the two stacked pallet sets was 10 inches. The employee was turned sideways and squeezed forward between the two sets of pallets to reposition a box. The employee reported that it was a very tight fit and that his stomach was pressed firmly against the side of the pallet’s top deck board. After repositioning the box the employee squeezed his way from between the pallets. When doing so the employee reported that he experienced a pinching sensation on his stomach. After exiting the pallets the employee lifted his shirt and observed a small amount of blood on his stomach and the a small sliver of wood protruding from the bloody area.
