Immediately preceding the incident the employee was running door hardware housing parts on the ADEPT (Auto)-Plug Polisher.

What happened

This job activity entails loading parts onto housing tools (blocks) which are situated on a large circular load table. The table automatically rotates to allow the employee access to the next tool. Periodically the alignment tower 'shot pin ' located under the load table will not automatically align with the load. The employee responded to a “Table motion not detected” alarm on the operator’s computer screen requiring him to manually align the load table with the shot pin. When doing so the employee placed four fingers of his left hand between two housings (on the load table) and with his right hand he grasped the opposite side edge of the load table. The employee then pulled with this left hand and pushed with his right hand until the table and the shot pin aligned. During this process the employee felt a snapping or popping sensation just below the knuckle of his left ring (fourth) finger.
