What happened

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] a Wayfair associate working in Receiving – Trailer Unload reported an injury due to contact with falling freight. The associate stated that while working at dock door 344 and while they were unloading a trailer and maneuvering a heavy box they were shimmying a box at floor level when a stack of similar boxes behind it fell striking the inside of their right palm and causing pain to the right hand and wrist area. During the investigation the site found that the injury occurred while the associate was attempting to reposition a box weighing approximately 135 lbs by shimmying it from the bottom. As the box was moved a stack of approximately five similar boxes staged directly behind it became unstable and fell forward. The falling boxes made contact with the associate’s right hand specifically impacting the inside of the palm and wrist area. The associate immediately stopped work and notified leadership.
