A packaging tech production operator woke up on their day off one day after they had worked a normally-scheduled shift. They were having difficulty moving without severe discomfort to their lower back on the right-hand side. The operator called into work 23 hours after their approximation of the time of incident and stated to their supervisor that they had strained their back near the end of the previous days shift. They stated they did not report the pain immediately because the pain was mild at the time. When asked about the moment of injury the operator said it was from lifting 20 gallon waste buckets to dump into larger food waste dumpsters and pushing the larger food waste dumpsters to the compactor room from the packaging area; stating some of the larger dumpsters have wheels that do not roll easily and take considerable exertion to move.
