Installing drill bit while co worker was holding the drill

At approximately [REDACTED] at the south laydown yard [REDACTED] and his apprentice were in the process of installing a drill bit. During this procedure the apprentice who was holding the drill inadvertently engaged the trigger. This caused the drill to activate resulting in the bit striking the employee 's right hand between the webbing of the index and middle fingers. The employee went to pivot immediately and was referred off site. Employee received a stitch and was released to return to work.
