Employee was opening lids on drums of concentrates

On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] an employee working in the Cellar reported an injury to their left index finger due to opening a drum. The employee was working in the Cellar near tank 12006 and stated that while opening a drum of concentrates their finger slipped on the drum ring causing a laceration. The employee stated that their working environment was wet on the floor but the drums were dry. The rings on the steel drums were tightly attached and when trying to maneuver the drum ring off the employee 's hand slipped. The employee is qualified to perform the operation and has been trained in the process. The employee was using the appropriate tools for the process. During the investigation it was discovered that the employee was following the appropriate safety procedures which included performing their job as trained but the employee was not wearing proper hand protection.
