Setting Date Codes in rubber gasket molds.

A Mold Maintenance Employee was setting the depths of the date codes on a 250-pound mold. The Mold Maintenance Employee lifted the mold using a hoist he hooked two mold hooks to two of the tabs that stick out from the side of the mold. The Mold Maintenance Employee needed to adjust the date code on the mold. The mold hook on the right side of the mold slipped off the mold tab causing the mold to drop to the table. The Mold Maintenance Employees’ right thumb was in the path of the dropping mold and was struck by the mold. The Mold Maintenance Employees’ right thumb was lacerated approximately 1”. First aid was administered the Mold Maintenance Employees’ thumb bandaged and he was brought to the Emergency Room in [REDACTED]. The Mold Maintenance Employee received 8 stiches for the laceration.
