Emerald Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 957378, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on March 13, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 5409 Washington St., Downers Grove, IL 60515.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems, nor were the employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501(b): a) On October 16, 2017, employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 23 feet while performing framing carpentry work to a new construction single family home. b) On October 16, 2017, employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 9.9 feet from missing guardrails on the second floor landing adjacent to the stairway. Emerald Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 957378, citation number 1, item number 1-c and was affirmed as a final order on March 13, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 5409 Washington St., Downers Grove, IL 60515.

29 CFR 1926.1052(c)(1): Stairways having four or more risers or rising more than 30 inches (76 cm), whichever is less, were not equipped with one handrail and one stair rail system along each unprotected side or edge: a) On October 16, 2017, employees were using a stairway to access the second floor from the first floor, that was not equipped with a stair rail system on the unprotected sides between the first and second floors of the home.
