29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. On and/or before July 25, 2023, employee(s) handled corrosive and hazardous chemicals while cleaning, disinfecting tasks, and/or associated maintenance tasks. The employer did not ensure the appropriate eyewash station was provided for drenching and flushing of the eyes and free from obstructions. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to serious eye retinal, corneal damage and/or burns. In the following locations: a) Building 1123, Paint Shop: employee(s) used a Clorox Disinfecting Bleach, Fabuloso Professional b) Building 1123, Carpenter shop: Lysol All Purpose Cleaner The Marine Corps was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.151(c), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1647677, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 05, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at MCAS Miramar Building 2514 & 2515, San Diego, CA 92145.
