29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. On and/or before July 24, 2023, employee(s) handled chemical(s) to conduct their job duties. The employer did not provide an eyewash station that provided 15 minutes of continuous flow for drenching. This condition potentially exposed employee(s) to serious eye retinal, corneal damage and/or burns. In the following locations: a) Main Office, employee(s) used a Motiv HD Hardener and Motiv HD Resin to fix bowling ball(s). b) Kitchen, employee(s) used QUAT-TABS to sanitize soda nozzles and kitchen surfaces. The Marine Corps was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.151(c), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1647677, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 05, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at MCAS Miramar Building 2514 & 2515, San Diego, CA 92145.

The employer did not ensure secondary label containing health and safety warnings were affixed to the bottle for the employee to use. Employee(s) were potentially exposed to eye redness, blurred vision, abrasion to the cornea, nausea, irritation of the nose and/or throat irritations. Safety data sheets were not available for both chemicals in the workplace. Employee(s) were potentially exposed to skin irritation, allergic reactions, eye redness, and/or severe eye damage. The Marine Corps was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1589470, citation number 1, item number 4, Group letter b, and was affirmed as a final order on May 12, 2023 with respect to a workplace located at MCAS Miramar Building B6200 Pass & Id visitor Center San Diego, CA 92145.
