29 CFR 1926.602(c)(1)(vi): Industrial truck(s) in use did not meet the applicable requirements of design, construction, stability, inspection, testing, maintenance, and operation, as defined in American National Standards Institute B56.1-1969, Safety Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks. a) 37 Vinegold Drive, Mullica Hill NJ: The employer did not ensure that the company worksite Foreman operating a powered industrial truck used at the worksite complied with all applicable requirements as defined in the ANSI B56.1-1969, including but not limited to lowering any load, removing the keys from the machine ignition, etc. prior to exiting the powered industrial truck. The company worksite Foreman, operating a JLG All Terrain Lift, elevated unsecured 4 x 8 sheets of OSB set on the lift's forks, in excess of 13 feet above the ground, and partially set the lift's elevated forks onto a residential structure's pitched roof and then exited the lift to perform sheathing and other related activites. ANSI B56.1 - 1969, Safety Standards for Powered Industrial Trucks, requires that when leaving a Powered Industrial Truck unattended, load engaging means shall be fully lowered, controls shall be neutralized, the key or connector plug removed, etc. Observed on or about 03/08/24.
