Pulling a damaged sheet from under a 1 1 4 stack of sheets

A waxer operator noticed a sheet with bent scrolls about 1 ¼” down from the top of a load of sheets in the waxer bucket. The employee wanted to pull this sheet out to prevent it from jamming in a shearing line. The employee grabbed the sheet with needle nose pliers and curled the edge to give the employee better grip with the pliers. As the employee pulled on the sheet with his right hand the pliers slipped off the sheet and the excessive force caused the employee to strike his opposite wrist with the plier’s jaws. This resulted in a laceration to the employee’s wrist. The employee was wearing cut resistant gloves but was not wearing cut resistant sleeves as required. The employee was sent to the emergency room and received 8 stitches for his injury. He was released to return to work with no restrictions.
