Removing a jammed box from the automatic box making machine (packing lion).

At approximately [REDACTED] two operators were packing at the packing lion. After packing a box and allowing the box to descend into the packing lion an error occurred in the machine causing the operators to need to remove the box and partially packed extrusions. Prior to removing the contents standard procedures call for the operator to use the e-stop to prevent the machine from moving. While removing the contents after hitting the e-stop the suction cups supporting the material began to move upwards. The suction cups pushed the box to the side pinching the operators hand between the extrusion and packing table and continued to apply force. First responders provided initial care and the employee was taken to the emergency room where approximately 15 stiches were administered. The packing lion has been locked out until further notice.
