29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Ash Mountain Maintenance Facility Recycling Area, Sequoia National Park, 07/13/2016: The Vickers baler interlock system was not functional. The baler was operated with the door open while employees placing card board boxes in it, which exposed them to amputation and crushing hazards. The U.S. National Park Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 913225, citation number 01, item number 03 and was affirmed as a final order on 11/12/2013, with respect to a workplace located at Grant Grove, 83715 Park Road, Kings Canyon National Park, CA 93633.
